HISTORY OF PROTON
SAGA FIRST ITERATION (1985-1992)
The first generation Proton Saga was the first car to be produced by Malaysian automobile manufacturer, Proton.[4] It is based on the 1983 Mitsubishi Lancer Fiore saloon as a result of a joint venture between the Malaysian government and Mitsubishi Motors of Japan. The Proton Saga was officially launched on 9 July 1985 by the former Malaysian Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamad. It was initially available in a 4-door saloon guise, but was later complemented by a 5-door hatchback variant in 1987.
SAGA ISWARA SECOND ITERATION (1992-2003)
On 15 August 1992, the Proton Saga Iswara (also known as Proton Iswara) was launched by Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.[11] It was named after the Great Helen butterfly (Papilio iswara) of Sarawak. Just like its predecessor, the Saga Iswara was available in 4-door saloon and 5-door hatchback guises and was equipped with the same Mitsubishi Orion 1.3L and 1.5L carburetor engines for the Malaysian market.
SAGA HATCHBACK THIRD ITERATION (2003-2008)
The Proton Saga LMST hatchback was introduced in 2003 as the successor to the Iswara Aeroback S.E.. Despite sharing the same, ageing platform with the original Proton Saga from 1985,

PROTON SAGA BLM (2008)
The much anticipated second generation Proton Saga, also called the Saga BLM (Base Line Model) launched on 18 January 2008.[2] It was indigenously designed unlike the former generation and launched with 3 variants which were priced between RM31,498 and RM39,998 respectively
On 30 November 2010, Proton unveiled the facelifted Proton Saga FL at the Thai International Motor Expo 2010.[15] It received large exterior updates, but the technical specifications and interior remain mostly unchanged from the pre-facelift Saga.

PROTON WIRA
The Proton Wira was a car manufactured by Malaysian carmaker Proton as known as Proton 416 or 400 series in various European Market, released as a four-door saloon and four-door hatchback in 1993.Proton redesigned the saloon to make a 5-door hatchback variant during the mid-1990s, basing the car on the saloon Wira and sporting similar taillights. The early models used carburetors, in 1998 Proton replaced them with EFi injection. However, in 2001 Proton replaced the Mitsubishi EFi module with Siemens VDO module that is claimed to cause slight power loss.

PROTON PUTRA (1995-2000)
The Proton Putra is a coupé automobile produced by Malaysian automobile company Proton. Production of the Putra started in 1995 for the first model and ended in 2000, but was briefly relaunched in limited numbers in 2004–05 available just in Malaysia. The reasoning for the relaunch is to clear of the remaining stocks available at Proton Plant.

PROTON SATRIA FIRST GENERATION (1995-2005)
The first generation Satria (market as 316 in various European Market) was a 3-door hatchback based on the 1991 Mitsubishi Mirage (Colt outside the Japanese market). Changes were limited to front-end styling and an interior from the bigger Wira.
SATRIA GTi (1999_2002)
The Satria Sports GTi was launched with a 138 bhp (103 kW) 1.8-litre Mitsubishi-sourced 4G93p engine, originally found in the Mitsubishi Lancer GSR, but minus the turbo and with an increase in compression to compensate for the power loss.

PROTON PERDANA (1995-1999)
The Proton Perdana is a four-door mid-size saloon manufactured by Malaysian automobile producer Proton. It was launched in January 1995 for sale exclusively in Malaysia. The Perdana is a badge engineered seventh generation Mitsubishi Eterna, developed as the result of a collaboration between Proton and Mitsubishi Motors.
Perdana is the Malay word for Prime.

PROTON TIARA 1996
The genesis of the Tiara was the result of an agreement during the mid-1990s between Proton's then CEO, Tan Sri Yahaya Ahmad, and PSA Peugeot Citroën, a producer of Citroën and Peugeot vehicles. Yahaya had expressed wishes that Proton not use Mitsubishi platforms, and that Proton cooperate with PSA Peugeot Citroën for access to its diesel engines.
PROTON PERDANA V6 (1999-2010)
In 1999, Proton unveiled the Proton Perdana V6 amidst rising demand. It was equipped with the superior 24-valve Mitsubishi 6A12 2.0L V6 engine which offers 148 hp, or 13 hp more than the previous 16-valve Mitsubishi 4G63 2.0L Inline-four engine.[2][6] The Perdana V6 received additional ride & handling input from Proton's British subsidiary, Lotus, resulting in improved NVH attributes.[2] It also featured a new bodykit, grille, 16" rims, leather seats, a redesigned steering wheel and other minor updates on the interior.

PROTON WAJA (2000-2010)
The Proton Waja is a saloon car designed in-house by Malaysian automotive company, Proton, first released in August 2000.
The Waja is the first Malaysian-designed car. The name Waja which means (strong as) steel pictures the strength of steels used for Waja compared to the previous models. The name was chosen partly to counter the perception in the domestic market that Proton cars were not durable compared to its competitors.
In the United Kingdom, the Waja was sold as Proton Impian, "Impian" being another derivative of the Malay language, meaning "dream".

PROTON GEN-2 (2004-2012)
The Proton Gen-2 (stylized GEN•2) is a compact 5-door hatchback manufactured by Malaysian automobile manufacturer Proton which launched in 2004.[1] It was initially codenamed Wira Replacement Model (WRM). The Gen-2 uses a platform which was extensively developed in-house by Proton and technical partner Lotus. This platform was later adapted for the Proton Satria Neo and Proton Persona. The Gen-2 was among the first models to be produced at Proton's Tanjung Malim plant, developed as part of the Proton City project.
The name Gen-2 is an abbreviation of Generation 2, as it served as the replacement to the Proton Wira Aeroback hatchback.[1]

The Satria Neo was introduced in June 2006 as a replacement for the first generation Satria. Based on a new platform developed in-house by Proton (with some parts borrowed from the bigger Gen-2 and Waja), the car is currently only available in a three-door hatchback guise.

PROTON PERSONA (2007)
The Proton Persona is a sedan car introduced by Proton in 2007 for the same model year. Being an in-house design by Azlan Othman, the Persona replaced the saloon variant of the successful Proton Wira, whose export name is not confused with this model's same name, as Proton's sedan car.

PROTON EXORA (2009)
The Proton Exora is a compact MPV vehicle produced by Malaysian car manufacturer Proton which launched on 15 April 2009.[6] The Exora is Malaysia's first home- grown MPV and is based on Proton's new P2 platform. The Proton Exora later received a facelift in 15 December 2011.

PROTON SAGA FLX (2011-PRESENT)
8 months after the launch of the Saga FL, Proton added to its line-up the Saga FLX in which 'X' stands for extra.[18][19] The FLX is available in two trim lines which can be mated to a choice of either manual or CVT drivetrains. The fine-tuned CamPro IAFM+ engine is utilized and there are options for dual airbags and (ABS) with EBD).

PROTON INSPIRA (2010)
The Proton Inspira is a four-door compact saloon produced by Malaysian automobile manufacturer Proton which launched on 10 November 2010. It is sold exclusively in Malaysia as a rebadged ninth generation and current Mitsubishi Lancer as the result of a collaboration between Mitsubishi Motors and Proton. The Inspira succeeded the Proton Waja, and complements the indigenously-designed Proton Prevé in the Malaysian market.

PROTON EXORA BOLD CFE (2011)

PROTON PREVE (2012)
The Proton Prevé is a four-door compact saloon developed by Malaysian automobile manufacturer Proton. It was launched on 16 April 2012 and is based on Proton's next generation P2 platform. The Prevé is the saloon complement to its sister car, the Proton Suprima S hatchback, and is also the successor to the Proton Persona and Proton Gen-2.
The Prevé is claimed to be Proton's first global car, evident in the name Prevé itself, which means to prove or proof.

PROTON SUPRIMA S TURBO (2013)
The Proton Suprima S, codenamed P3-22A is a five-door compact hatchback engineered by Malaysian automobile manufacturer Proton. It was released on 17 August 2013 and it was based on Proton's next generation P2 platform. The Suprima S complements the Proton Prevé saloonand has been designed with larger emphasis on international markets.
The name Suprima has its roots in the English word, Supreme. The S suffix stands for Sports.
